Stockton Mine Operations.
In late 2006 Ching Contracting successfully bid for a contract to construct a PE decant pipeline for the Ford Creek No.4 dam. This signified the start of an ongoing workload at Stockton Mine working for Solid Energy NZ Ltd or more recently the Stockton Alliance.
In the years since this beginning we have gone on to weld and install several tens of kilometres of polyethylene pipelines around the mine site. More recently we have entered into a formal contract with the Stockton Alliance to undertake ongoing maintainance of the various pipelines on site.
In January 2011 Ching Contracting completed an assessment and submitted an evaluation of the various sewage treatment facilities in operation at Stockton Mine. The report produced on the various facilities made recommendations to the Stockton Alliance for a number upgrades or improvements to the existing systems as well and on going servicing and maintenance.
As a result of this report a number of the recommended improvements were quoted and completed by Ching Contracting and we have now signed up to a formal maintenance and monitoring contract for the various sewage treatment facilities on site.
With this secured base maintenance workload Ching Contracting now employs 8 fulltime employees at Stockton Mine to enable us to meet our ongoing maintenance obligations on the pipelines and sewage treatment facilities whilst also being able to undertake additional new works as required.
Our staff at Stockton are lead by a fulltime site manager, Troy Hahn, who has been working at the mine since our first contract in 2006.
Our site staff consist of qualified plant operators, PE pipe welders and general labourers.
We operate and maintain a fleet of three excavators, two PE butt welders, one electrofusion welder and various small plant and vehicles. When required, additional staff and equipment is made available out of our Nelson depot to cope with peaks in workload or to complete other specialist tasks.
Since commencing work at Stockton Mine, Ching Contracting Ltd and our staff have become highly regarded and respected for their skills, quality of workmanship, expertise and commitment to Health & Safety on the site.
