More recently, Ching Contracting have entered into the trenchless technology market with the purchase of a Hammerhead Portaburst PB30 Generation 2 pipe burster.
The PB30 allows us to replace existing small diameter pipelines (up to 150mm diameter) with new polyethylene pipes of equal or even larger diameter without the need for open trenching. This method of pipeline replacement provides many benefits in terms of time, cost and disruption.
The PB30 also provides the ability to replace an existing pipeline where it is not possible to undertake open excavation for eaxample where a pipeline passes under a building, structure or waterway or is currently laid up a steep embankment where trenching equipment cannot operate.
We have now utilised our PB30 pipe burster on two sewer upgrade contracts for the Tasman District Council in the Motueka township and it has more thanproven it's worth.
The PB30 allowed us to replace sewer lateral pipelines from tha main sewer pipeline located in the main street of Motueka (State Highway 63) right through to residential property boundaries without the need for open trenching thus allowing us to maintain two way traffic flows at all times and minimising the amount of damage and reinstatement required to the carriageway surface.
