Overview :
Ching Contracting Ltd were engaged as a major subcontractor to construct new inlet, outlet, overflow and scour pipelines for a new 2,500,000 litre potable water supply reservoir for Nelson City. While on site we also undertook construction of subsoil drainage under the new reservoir floor slab, site stormwater drainage pipelines & structures and minor earthworks.

Specific Scope :
  - Detailing and ordering of DN375 and DN300 concrete lined steel (CLS) pipeline components and fittings (manual and actuated valving, non return valves, electronic flowmeter etc.).
  - Installation of new DN375 and DN300 CLS pipe work and fittings to high levels of accuracy to ensure tie-in to the new resevoir structure and connection to the existing potable water supply pipelines.
  - Pressure testing of newly constructed pipelines.
  - Physical cut-in's of new pipe work into the existing potable water supply reticulation including planning and working with the Nelson City Council and their utilities contractor for shutdowns of the water supply to allow the work to ne completed.
  - Construction of subsoil drainage under the new reservoir floor slab.
  - Construction of new site stormwater pipelines, sumps, manholes and fluming.
  - Minor site earthworks.

MDC Havelock Reservoir

Overview :
Ching Contracting Ltd were engaged as a major subcontractor to construct new inlet, outlet, overflow and scour pipelines for a new 450,000 litre potable water supply reservoir for the Havelock township. Our scope of works also included decommissioning and demolition of four of the existing five reservoir tanks, excavation and hardfilling under the new reservoir floor slab, site stormwater
drainage pipelines & structures and flowmeter chamber construction.

Specific Scope :
  - Detailing and ordering of DN200 and DN100 stainless steel (SS) pipelines and DN225 to DN90 polyethylene(PE) pipelines and associated fittings (valving, non return valves, dismantling joints etc.).
  - Detailed planning and sequencing of isolation procedures to allow partial demolition of existing reservoir structures while maintining water supply to the Havelock township.
  - Installation of new DN200 and DN100 SS pipelines under new reservoir concrete floor area to high levels of accuracy to ensure tie-in to the new resevoir structure levels and position.
  - Butt fusion and Electrofusion welding of new DN225 to DN90 PE pipelines from new SS pipework to cut-in locations of existing water supply pipelines for Havelock township.
  - Pressure testing and disinfection of newly constructed pipelines.
  - Physical cut-in's of new pipe work into the existing potable water supply reticulation including planning and working with the Marlborough District Council utilities staff for shutdowns of the water supply to allow the work to ne completed.
  - Construction of subsoil drainage under the new reservoir floor slab.
  - Construction of new site stormwater pipelines and sumps.
  - Testing and disinfection of the new reservoir.
